The Basilica

Volume II is a thorough study of the "Basilica" in Vicenza. Originally part of a 13th-century complex of civic buildings, the structure was encased in loggias according to Palladio's designs of the mid-1540s. Palladio's work there is examined in its relationship to his career as a whole, and the building's origins and subsequent history are discussed in detail.
