The Chiesa del Redentore

The design for the Redentore (1576–77), one of Palladio's two major Venetian churches, has been said to constitute the supreme affirmation of the Palladian idiom in its absolute spatial integration, its natural lighting, and its structural and decorative elements. The author presents a stimulating analysis of the visual, historical, stylistic, and iconographical aspects of the building.
