Critical Writings on Commonwealth Literatures

Critical Writings on Commonwealth Literatures presents a systematic and selective bibliography of critical writings on literature written in English outside the United States and the United Kingdom. This is the first book to include secondary sources along with primary sources for such a wide area. The year 1970 is the cutoff date since serial bibliographies in the Journal of Commonwealth Literature can be used for current data.

Major selections of the book are: Commonwealth General, Africa (East and West), Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and Rhodesia, South Asia (India, Pakistan, Ceylon) Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines), The West Indies, and Theses and Dissertations.

Within each section there are listings of (a) research aids, (b) general writings (c) writings on individually numbered and cross-referenced by subject; and indexed by critic, editor, and translator. There are over 6,500 items listed, and more than 650 periodicals indexed, in addition to books.
