Reception: Texts, Readers, Audiences, History
is a scholarly, peer-reviewed journal published once a year. Founded in 2008, Reception is a forum for scholarly dialogue on reading, interpretation, book history, cultural studies, media and communication studies, and any other field that investigates what readers and audiences make of the things they encounter as "texts." The journal embraces an expansive notion of both methodology and subject matter and seeks out scholarship from the widest possible range of academic disciplines. The editors welcome manuscripts engaged with reception study writ large; histories of reading and the book; film, television, and periodical studies; studies of fandoms both digital and analog; institutional, intellectual, or pedagogical applications, studies, and histories; folklore and museum studies; material and visual cultural studies; adaptation studies; medievalism; and classical reception studies.

Reception is the official journal of the Reception Study Society, a non-profit organization that seeks to promote informal and formal exchanges between scholars in several related fields: reader-response criticism and pedagogy, reception study, the history of reading and the book, cultural studies, communication and media studies, and any other studies engaging these primary areas.
